Feb 5: The Major Sikh Holocaust took place at Kup Raheera near Maler Kotla.
The marching forces of Afghan invader Ahmed Shah Abdali chased the Sikh Army
and engaged in a severe battle. It is said that more than 30,000 Sikh
soldiers were killed an action, out of a total of 50,000.
Feb 15: Ahmad Shah Abdali traveled from Sirhind to Lahore with 50
bullock-carts filled with the heads of Sikhs.
Mar3: Anmad Shah Abdali displayed the heads of Sikhs by hanging them on
doors and walls, upon reaching Lahore.
Apr 11: Ahmed Shah Abdali blew up Sri Harmandir Sahib and desecrated the
sarowar by filling it with garbage.
May 17: Jassa Singh Ahluwalia defeated Jain Khan.
Sept 2: Janam Diwas Baba Wadhbagh Singh Ji.
Oct 16: Sikhs defeated Ahmad Shah Abdali.

Jan 5: A Morcha was launched for the possession of Gurdwara Bhai Pheru.
Jan 7: 2 members of the SGPC were arrested from the precincts of the Sri
Darbar Sahib.
Feb 9: The 1st Akali Jatha of 500 GurSikhs under the command of Jathaedar
Udham Singh of Verpal, marched from Sri Akal Takhat for Gangsar Jaito.
Feb 21: Shaheedi Saka, Gangsar Jaito. Under the orders of Nabha State
authorities, police opened fire to prevent the march of the Sikh devotees to
their holy shrine at Jaito - Gurdwara Tibbi Sahib. More than 400 Sikhs died
on the spot, yet many valiant Sikhs continued their undeterred march and
successfully reached the holy shrine. Over 1,500 Sikhs were arrested and
imprisoned during this incident.

Jan 20: The Babbar Akali case judgement was announced. As a result, 5 Babbar
Akalis were ordered to be hanged till death, 11 were sentenced to life
imprisonment, and 38 were imprisoned for four years.
Feb 6: Bhai Kahan Singh Nahba's "Mahan Kosh" was published. This reprisented
an invaluable source of information on GurSikhism.
Feb 27: 6 Babbar Akalis were hanged to death in Lahore Central Jail.
June 18: The first elections were held to the "Central Board" under the
